Flat Rate Tracker 3.0 is now live.
This is the biggest update we've ever made to Flat Rate Tracker. The platform has been rebuilt with a redesigned experience across the web and mobile apps, new tools for tracking your work and pay, and an entirely new foundation behind the scenes.
The goal wasn't just to make Flat Rate Tracker look better. 3.0 was built to make FRT faster and easier to use today while giving us a better, more secure foundation for the features and updates we're building next.
Your data is already here
If you already have a Flat Rate Tracker account, you don't need to start over.
Your existing account and tracking history have been migrated automatically to Flat Rate Tracker 3.0, including your Work Orders, Jobs, flagged-hour history, and account information.
Just sign in with your existing account and continue where you left off.
Existing subscriptions and account access have also been carried over, so you don't need to create another account or purchase your plan again.
A completely redesigned Flat Rate Tracker
Nearly every part of Flat Rate Tracker has been redesigned.
The Dashboard, Work Orders, Jobs, Reports, account settings, and other areas now share a cleaner and more consistent experience built around the way flat-rate technicians actually use FRT.
The Dashboard gives you a quick view of your Work Orders, flagged hours, expected pay, and progress for the period you're tracking.
You can quickly move between days, weeks, months, and pay periods to see where you stand without digging through individual Work Orders.
Better Work Order tracking
Work Orders received one of the biggest upgrades in 3.0.
FRT now keeps a more detailed history of when your hours were actually flagged instead of treating every Work Order as a single block of hours.
That means FRT can better handle:
- Partial flagging
- Work Orders flagged across multiple days
- Additional hours flagged later
- Overflagging
- Paid and partially paid work
- Historical expected pay
The Work Order detail experience has also been redesigned to put your RO information, jobs, hours, flagging history, expected pay, status, and photos together in one place.
PayTrack
PayTrack gives Pro users a new way to verify their paycheck against the work they've tracked in FRT.
Choose the dates covered by your paycheck, enter the hours and pay shown on your pay stub, and PayTrack compares those numbers against what Flat Rate Tracker expected.
Instead of manually going back through every RO, you can quickly see whether your hours and pay line up and investigate when they don't.
Scan RO
Scan RO is designed to make entering repair orders much faster.
Take a photo of an RO from your phone and Flat Rate Tracker can scan it and create a Work Order draft from the information it finds.
You still review everything before saving, but you don't have to manually type every line when FRT can do most of the work for you.
Scan RO is included with Pro.
ToolTrack
ToolTrack gives you a place to keep track of your tools inside Flat Rate Tracker.
You can organize your tools, record warranty information, and keep track of tools you've loaned out so you know who has them and where they went.
It's another part of the larger goal for FRT: giving technicians useful tools beyond simply counting flagged hours.
Work Order photos
Pro users can now attach photos directly to Work Orders.
That gives you a place to keep relevant photos with the work they belong to instead of trying to find them in your camera roll later.
When you use Scan RO, the original scan can also stay attached to the Work Order for reference.
Teams
Flat Rate Tracker 3.0 introduces Teams for shops and groups that want to use FRT together.
Teams provide shared technician management, goals, and reporting while keeping technicians' personal pay information private.
Managers can see the information they need to understand team performance while technicians continue to have their own individual Flat Rate Tracker experience.
Better pay tracking
3.0 also expands the way Flat Rate Tracker handles pay.
FRT can preserve the pay information that applied when work was completed, so changing your pay setup later doesn't rewrite the expected earnings on your historical work.
We've also built the new system with more flexibility for different technician pay structures as Flat Rate Tracker continues to grow.
Flat Rate Tracker Pro
The existing Solo plan isn't going away.
Solo continues to include the core Flat Rate Tracker experience for technicians who want a simple way to track their Work Orders and flagged hours.
Pro adds tools built around that core experience, including:
- Scan RO
- PayTrack
- ToolTrack
- Work Order photos
You can try Pro free for 14 days.
A new mobile experience
Flat Rate Tracker 3.0 introduces a completely redesigned mobile app built specifically for phones instead of simply shrinking the desktop experience.
Navigation, Work Order cards, forms, menus, reports, and other interactions have all been redesigned for mobile use.
Flat Rate Tracker 3.0 for Android is available now on Google Play.
The completely new Flat Rate Tracker app for iPhone is coming soon.
The web version of 3.0 is also live now and works alongside the mobile apps with the same Flat Rate Tracker account.
Built for what's next
Flat Rate Tracker 3.0 is a major release, but it isn't the finish line.
Now that the new platform is live, we'll continue improving the experience across Flat Rate Tracker. That includes refining layouts and workflows across the website and mobile apps, improving existing features based on how they're used, and continuing to make FRT faster and easier to use.
We're also already working on what's next.
Future updates will expand the tools introduced in 3.0, improve features like Scan RO, PayTrack, ToolTrack, Reports, and Teams, and introduce new ways to help technicians track their work, understand their pay, and spend less time entering information manually.
Some updates will be small improvements that make everyday parts of FRT work better. Others will introduce entirely new capabilities.
One of the biggest reasons for rebuilding Flat Rate Tracker was to make those updates easier to deliver. The new architecture gives us a much better foundation for adding features and improving the product without having to work around years of older systems.
3.0 is the new starting point, not the finished product.
A little more about the rebuild
For anyone interested in what's happening behind the scenes, Flat Rate Tracker 3.0 is much more than a new interface.
The web application, backend services, data model, authentication flows, billing integrations, and mobile applications have all received substantial work as part of this release.
The new data model gives FRT much better support for features like partial flagging, historical pay calculations, paycheck reconciliation, Teams, and future reporting capabilities.
The account, authentication, and billing systems have also been modernized, giving Flat Rate Tracker a cleaner and more secure foundation going forward.
The new mobile apps share the same underlying Flat Rate Tracker platform while providing an experience designed specifically for mobile devices. That also makes it easier to keep the web, Android, and iPhone versions of FRT moving forward together.
For existing users, moving to this new platform also meant migrating years of Flat Rate Tracker data while preserving existing accounts, Work Orders, Jobs, flagged-hour history, and account access.
Most of that work is intentionally invisible when you open the app. What matters is that Flat Rate Tracker now has a stronger foundation that we can continue building on.
Thank you
Flat Rate Tracker started as a much simpler tool for keeping track of flagged hours. It's grown quite a bit since then.
3.0 is by far the biggest change we've made, and a lot of what went into it came from seeing how technicians actually use Flat Rate Tracker and from the feedback we've received over the years.
There's still plenty we want to build, and we'll continue improving both the design and functionality of Flat Rate Tracker after 3.0.
Thanks to everyone who has used FRT, reported problems, suggested features, and helped shape what it has become.
Welcome to Flat Rate Tracker 3.0.
